Great show!!!
This is the best lineup P&F ever had, imo. To the guy who had little good to say about Chris Robinson and HIS (great) band - THE BLACK CROWES: I am sorry your ignorance precluded you from being able to see exactly what he brought to the table. The guy's a hardcore Deadhead who brought a lot of enthusiasm to an already explosive collection of musicians. Barry Sless was fantastic on guitar! Larry Campbell's contributions were better displayed by his mandolin, fiddle, and pedal steel playing than his guitar work, which almost seemed like an afterthought in the face of the work of Sless, although Larry played a beautiful solo on "The Dolphins." I was highly impressed with the band's ability to be able to really go out there into interstellar space in places, much like 1968 and 1969 Dead shows, and then pull it all back together with ease. Far and away, it is Phil and his projects keeping what's left of the Grateful Dead flame still burning. I'd love to see this group of personnel again in the future playing together, and if they are, you can bet it all that I'll be there. 5 stars easy....I'm popping this baby in the CD player when I get in the car today for sure.

%#*&@!!
What? No juvenile griping about Phil's voice? Don't you guys look at the band lineup before you decide to torture yourselves? It's Phil's band and he gets to have anyone he wants to play with him in it. Get over your obsessive illusion that you have some sort of right to suggest to Phil who he ought or ought not to include in HIS shows. (The dig at his wife was patently disgusting, by the way) Don't like a particular lineup? Go listen to something you DO like and save the pissing and moaning for when Mommy and Daddy won't give you your allowance.
Interesting show. I always like it when there are new players and voices.
Keep up the good work, boys!

Mystery Line-ups>> NO FUTURE WITH THIS!!
This 1st set was such a struggle to tap into.. Chris Robinson offers very little and seems like a lanky, trashy distraction. Not A Fit for this music, stick with the Cowes or Crowes or whatever your little band is called. I'm sure you are a great guy, but don't play with the men, when you are still a boy musically.
"What is going on with Phil & Friends?" I was thinking during this show. Am I paying to listen to a band on stage running through a rehersal?? 2 years ago this thing was the most exciting rocking, enegetic band I'd seen in a long time, but then bit by bit we end up here, Oh god, is it all over.... 2nd set things began to slip and slide a bit, but Chris was a major distraction during the jams he would just stand there , I felt aprehensive and I'm sure the other musicians felt that tension and surely that effected the lack of focus during the jamming. Not sure if I'll go to another Phil Show again, why do all these players up and suddenly leave?? is it Phil, is it his wife?? such a shame there was a geat band here a few years ago////

Larry Campbell
I haven't listened to this show, but was scanning through the reviews, and was very surprised to read some of the comments/digs concerning Larry's musicianship, and whether he is worthy to play this or any other music...
Dylan, Simon, B.B, Levon, EmmyLou and Phil can't all be wrong...
He may be one of the most talented musicians on this earth right now.
I witnessed a P&F's show with Larry the other night at Darien Lake in Buffalo, and his guitar 'color' consitently stood out amidst a very tight, talented band.
Check your ears oh negative ones, and listen outside the box.
I'm sure Warren, Jimmy, Steve, Larry, Etc...would all gladly tie each other's shoes...

Not as I had hoped
This was my first time seeing this lineup. Chris has a soulful voice(great for a tune like Sugaree), and there are some hints of Jerry in Barry's guitar, but this is a far cry from the sizzling 00-03 tours that Phil put on with Warren and Jimmy. In particular the Uncle Johns is lacking:(...I reccomend the 11-21-01 Orpheum show...I'll take the old crew anyday...Waiting to see what they bring in February to MA and RI...Peace all..this a 3 for the performance, the quality is good

New Band=1 less phan
I don't want to be the overly critical reviewer at all. However, Phil Lesh and Friends shows from the past 7 years or so have been some of the greatest and most fulfilling musical experiences for me. Specifically, Phil's pairing with Steve Kimock in the late 90's, and the Haynes/Herring/barraco/molo band of the early 2000's produced raging, intricate, and winding-extended jam versions of Grateful Dead classics. At some heights of the haynes/herring band, I would even say they rivaled the original dead, and were certainly the best thing around. Sadly, that is no longer the case with the new lineup. Phil and the ever-excellent molo managed to play some interesting rhythms and backbeats, but the rest of the band couldn't usually follow at a pace that could keep me interested (with the sounds of the former lineup ringing in my head.) Particularly, listen to a Jimmy Herring/Warren Haynes St. Stephen, and then honestly tell us like the last reviewer tried to that: "The new line-up brings all the others have and more...." That is pure crap man. I'm not trying to be a jerk, but nobody can listen to the Monumental and amazing Jimmy Herring and then turn to Larry Cambell and be happy. I happen to like Barry sless, but Larry is not good enough to replace either of the former guitarists. To finish on a positive note, I think the new band by the second set of this show, had managed to play some good stuff. It's just that the old phil and friends was GREAT stuff, and I can't forget about that so quickly. I hope Jimmy and warren come back... Two more notes: Chris Robinson was better than I thought he would be(still not warren but...). And I've always liked mookie siegel-he's a hardcore cat, but I did like the occasional barraco vocal, and mookie lacks that. PEACE all
P.S. To SUNSPOT, (other reviewer) I really feel bad for you if you wouldn't have gone to see phil just because warren and jimmy were in the band. That is probably one of the dumbest things I've ever heard someone say on this archive coming from a supposed dead/phil fan. Warren was awesome on the 2004 summer tour, and most people I talked to loved him. But more importantly, we are talking about P&F, and warren/jimmy made that band the hottest act for years until this past tour. I think you should Clean your ears out, download a soundboard from 01' or 02', listen to it , and then get a life if you still don't think that band was the shit. Just to let you know, I WONT go see THIS lineup again. Ratdog's current status is much more appealing to me until phil and friends get their act together.

Phil & Phriends - Agganis, Boston, Ma
If you were there then you know the second set of this show was great! The band has never playedt this venue before. They were thinking of us when they chose this over the Orpheum. The fans need to keep in mind that this is a revolving and evolving band. That's why it's called Phil & FRIENDS! It's not an American Idol competion. It's a group of highly talented musicians playong songs they know and love. I would be glad to see this line-up again anytime.

sjpeagles1 nailed it..No one can compare with Warren and Jimmy..First of all, Warren Haynes is one of the greatest guitar players on the planet..Larry Cambpell could'nt tie his shoe, tell him to go back with Dylan and take Bob's shit for another 5 years..He's like a cartoon character..Phil had to replace Warren and Jimmy with someone and this is all he had to come up with.....cant blame Phil though..I'm sure he misses them as much as we do..Chris Robinson is an excellent blues singer..Great voice and a great love for GD music.....not a bad show !

Great show, great BAND!!
I was there and enjoyed it thoroughly. In my OPINION, I'd rather see this lineup than Warren/Jimmy. Warren lost the ability to play Dead music at some point, the '04 Dead tour clearly showed that. If it was still that lineup, I would not have gone to the show. But, unlike others, I realize that liking/not liking music is a matter of personal taste. There is no "right or wrong". Just inflated egos...

Sick show....the new lineup quickly proved itself to me at this show (my first of the tour)....Sless and Campell really add great dynamics to the Phil lineup...while Mookie was mixed a little too low in the first set, by the second set he was also rippin and up higher in the mix....first set highlights included a sweet UJB, Senor and a Bomb of a Hard to Handle Jam, great Cosmic Charlie as well..Second set was a Monster from Truckin>Gimme Shelter the band Smoked....awesome energy, Jams and great Phil Bombs....The new line-up brings all the others have and more....
Also: correction on the track listing the show went Dolphins>Senor, then Long Black Vale...thanks for taping
